Imerys is a major supplier of industrial minerals to the plastics industry.

The Imerys product portfolio is unequalled in its breadth and encompasses a full range of products from highly functional surface-treated additives to economical extenders. Strong technical understanding of our products and their polymer-based applications complements the natural value of the minerals we supply.

In various applications, Imerys calcium carbonates and kaolins can reduce cycle time, improve processability, and improve mechanical and rheological properties. Our products are used in PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene and unsaturated polyesters. Some Imerys products are well suited as antiblock or in plastic for electrical insulation. Others aid pore formation for breathable film and opaque BOPP.

Imerys mica products provide benefits to plastic composites, by increasing tensile and flexural strength, tensile modulus, and heat deflection temperature and greatly reducing warpage and shrinkage. Barrier properties also are greatly improved.

A key component of our plastics business is our commitment to technical collaboration with plastics processors. Through this collaboration we acquire an in-depth understanding of the application which allows us to develop mineral-based solutions to bring the required functionality and performance to the end product.
